geotrupede Posted August 14, 2021 Share #1  Posted August 14, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi all, I have just received a set of very nice Russian lenses (35/50/85/135 with a zorki 4k). The 50 and the 85 are really nice lenses and so it is the 135. Quite sharp and interesting bokeh. All good apart one. The 35mm f2.8 with an unusual rear element which protrudes significantly beyond the mount. This is a screw mount lens so to fit to SL one would need an M adapter and the screw mount adapter together. Yet, the rear element remain a concern...  so I am not at ease at trying to fit it to the SL. Does anybody have one and has tried on the SL2(s)? Does it work without breaking sensor and shutter? There are some info online about being ok with the M8/9 series and M240 but nothing else and nothing really conclusive. Any insight? G>
wolan Posted August 16, 2021 Share #2  Posted August 16, 2021 The Jupiter 12 comes with different mounts http://allphotolenses.com/lenses/item/c_550.html which one do you have? N.

It doesn't fit the SL. It won't damage the camera, but the rear element hits the top and bottom raised parts around the shutter (where the electronic contacts are). It may work with an M, because the mechanical bits around the film plane are arranged differently. Even then, it won't focus accurately with the rangefinder. USSR cameras used a different focus pitch for the rangefinder. It's really too bad. I love that lens on film. The main downside is that you have to use it on a vintage USSR camera.
geotrupede Posted August 16, 2021 Author Share #4 Â Posted August 16, 2021 thank you! my version is the screw mount. it actually look like fitting, radius-wise the main concern is how deep it looks like. using a piece of paper to mock up the fitting it is like 1mm from the sensor, too close it would seem... shame : ( G. geotrupede Posted August 18, 2021 Author Share #5  Posted August 18, 2021 @BernardC You are totally correct! The Jupiter 12 works on the M9 series but NOT on the SL2. Indeed the depth is not an issue but inside the SL2(s) there is a rectangular opening in front of the sensor and the edges of this frame clash with the lens rear element, thus it does not mount. On the contrary it seems to be working ok on the monochrom M9. I took a chance and it did fit, shoot without touching the shutter, as explained by Bernard. Thank you!
