silverchrome Posted August 14, 2021 Share #1 Posted August 14, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) The lock on the base plate feels "scratchy" on the last quarter turn as it latches on to the body. It feels like it is rubbing against something. I've taken the lock apart and I can't see anything that is obviously wrong. I've also checked that the teaching mechanism is not scraping against the body of the camera, but everything seems fine. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Should I lubricate the washers that make up the mechanism? Already done a search but couldn't find anything online.
Advertisement Posted August 14, 2021 Posted August 14, 2021 Hi silverchrome, Take a look here M8 Base Plate Lock. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
a.noctilux Posted August 14, 2021 Share #2 Posted August 14, 2021 If the base plate closes enough, I would not worry. Just had a look on my wife's M8 which has the grip-base-plate positively locked, nothing can be 'destroyed' in her M8 if the locking feels scratchy. Second thought... M8 lock is metal, and the base lock is metal, maybe a very small 'bent' at the locking mechanism can cure that.
silverchrome Posted August 14, 2021 Author Share #3 Posted August 14, 2021 Thanks for your reply. Seems to be getting worse and worse, definitely metal on metal contact going on somewhere. I'll try swapping the lock from my m9 once I am able to access it.
