I agree wholeheartedly, I too was concerned about size and weight but it is such A great execution and a joy to use that I really don’t mind the extra weight and size over the M system. The only lenses I’ve tried so far are the Sigma L Mount 14-24, the Leica SL 24 -70 the 50 SL APO and 35mm summilux FLE m mount. By far my favorite is the 50 SL APO, also tonight by chance I decided to put the hood on the 50 APO and realized right away that it cuts out a lot of stray light coming in ( I know that is what hoods are supposed to do !) and even allows the viewfinder to be clearer and brighter.

I decided to buy the Sl2s to use alongside my GFX. Since i already have a Medium Format Camera, i wanted something with slim files and but great tonality . I am realy happy with my decision.  loving the camera ,  how it handles and the files. i am using it with my M glas and the only lens i bought so far is the Summilux 50 SL.  This lens i magical, and i am happy with this setup

I prefer the SL2 by far. I prefer the portraits made with SL2 and then printed in size (maybe 40x60 or 50x70 cm or similar).

And lately I was surprised that even dpr came to a similar conclusion when they compared a7s III vs a7R IV even in low light situations (12 vs 60 which is even clearer than 24 vs 47).

Short version:

After too much too-ing and fro-ing, having only just discovered the CL some months ago, got the L-mount bug, put off the SL2-S and told myself it was too big and heavy, after buying and enjoying the Sigma fpL and the Lumix S5 (both of which I do like) and after finally trying out the SL2-S last month I realised it was the one I should have bought in the first place. Bought it, and couldn't be happier.

Longer version:

I explain more on my latest blog, with some photos: https://rangefinderchronicles.blogspot.com/2021/08/july-2021-s5-sl2-s.html

Glad to be an SL2-S user now!

I bought the SL2-S and kept the SL2. I’ve enjoyed having two L mount bodies. I planned to use SL2-S mostly for indoor shooting, but have found it’s getting more use than the SL2. I guess the extra megapixels weren’t as important to me as I thought they would be!

+1

I recently purchased an SL2-S as backup for my SL2. I'd been using the CL, but found it clumsy (size wise) to use with long lenses.

The more I'm using the SL2-S the more I'm liking the images it produces. The SL2-S images are definitely cleaner (less noise) & outstanding detail. On a recent safari I also tested the SL2-S at high ISO (12, 500 which is an area I never venture into ) & was amazed with the results, see here:  Leopard night shot

When it comes to birding I find the SL2 superior, the ability to crop makes a big difference with my bird photography.

I'm learning to use each camera for its own strengths & applications for my particular use.
