Hi team,

I have a 2004 Leica MP that I just got and there is dust in between the eyepiece and rangefinder. I want to clean.

How can I tell if the eye piece simply unscrews versus having to remove the rubber and unscrewing the three screws?

I don’t want to remove the rubber piece if I don’t have to and I don’t want to strong try to unscrew in case I damage something. Is there another way to tell?

Ill expirement when I get home from work but wanted to ask this knowledgeable group! Thanks.

The eypiece. Occasionaly, they manage to come loose and unscrew from the camera. Leica stopped making them several years ago and replacements are hard to come by.

So when Leica run out of eyepieces they'll stop making MP and M-A cameras?

No they still make the eyepiece, its the M-A/MPs that they stopped making several years ago. It never ceases to amaze me what drivel is posted on this forum. 😄

unscrew the metal ring and take out and clean the lense, no way out. The Rubber piece gets lost easy, fm no problem, me uses cheap glasses.;-)

My 18 mm ext Viewfinders Rubber was so bad in quality it "broke" by looking at it.

No doubt bollocks in this case but I wouldn't joke too much about Leica ceasing production of something as a result of running out of a particular component. Especially so, if the part in question is made and supplied by a third party.

Fully agree. However most manufacturers these days rely on third party components which is causing all sorts of problems.
