vikasmg Posted August 12, 2021 Share #1  Posted August 12, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) At first I thought it was my imagination and that maybe I had swapped an exhausted battery from the Q3 to the SL2 and forgotten but this is the third time I noticed.  Yes, the on-off switch was on ‘off’.  Has this happened to anyone else?  My SL2 has been sitting unused for about 2 weeks with the 90-280 lens mounted on it.  When I last used it the battery was not fully charged but it was over 50% charged.  When I took out the camera it was dead.  I removed and reinserted the battery and I also removed and reattached a lens (I don’t know why, but that helped once).  But no joy. I couldn’t find my spare battery so I charged the battery for about half an hour and it seems to be back to normal with the battery showing partial charge like it was the last time I used it. Any similar experience.
Advertisement Posted August 12, 2021 Posted August 12, 2021 Hi vikasmg, Take a look here SL2 battery drains just sitting there. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Photoworks Posted August 12, 2021 Share #2 Â Posted August 12, 2021 I have see that in just 2 days. I now tend to unlock the battery without taking it out all the way when resting in my bags for days. ready any time by just ruching the battery back in. Sometimes the FOTO APP option to connect remotely when camera is off will affect that. I have it off.

Any similar experience. Go to Menu tab 4 > Leica FOTOS > Remote Wakeup > set to OFF. It is a nice feature to remote wakeup the camera from tablet/phone and transfer edit photos on the go. But if you are not using the camera daily just turn the feature off.   2
Ingo Posted August 12, 2021 Share #5  Posted August 12, 2021 This is not limited to the SL, I also see this on my S1/Rs.

I usually use a SD card dongle and import the pictures into my iPad - a lot faster.  Later I move them over to a folder of my choice on the computer.  Or import them into the computer directly.
Marc B-C Posted August 12, 2021 Share #7 Â Posted August 12, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have the same issue with my Q2 (same battery I believe). Not to the extent you appear to, but the battery drains over time. When I had my Fuji X-T3, I had the same issue but that was related to pressure being applied to the shutter button when in the bag, despite the camera being switched off. Removing the soft press shutter button solved that one. No idea re the Leica.
vikasmg Posted August 12, 2021 Author Share #8  Posted August 12, 2021 I don’t seem to have the problem with the Q2 but I do swap batteries between the two so I can’t be sure.  My wife’s Nikon 7II has no such issues and her camera lies unused for longer periods of time than does mine. LocalHero1953 Posted August 13, 2021 Share #11 Â Posted August 13, 2021 I haven't noticed this problem with the SL or SL2-S, but I don't think I would remember the battery status after two weeks! I would have remembered and noticed if it happened after two days.

caissa Posted August 13, 2021 Share #14  Posted August 13, 2021 (edited) Not a problem with my SL2. Fill 2 batteries completely. Put one into the camera, the other on the shelf next to the camera. Go on holidays. Check both after a week or a fortnight. (Depends on your holidays). Edited August 13, 2021 by caissa

Well, in a way I’ve tried that.  I’ve had a battery in the Q2 and SL2 at the same time, unused for some days.  The SL2 drains the Q2 doesn’t.
LEICAKS Posted August 14, 2021 Share #16 Â Posted August 14, 2021 On the SL no such issues. Standby kept the battery good for ages. On the SL2, battery completely dead after a few days of sitting in the camera. Same with a freshly bought. There's definitely a bug in the power management system.... I hope they fix it in v3.0!

To be clear - is the SL2 on standby (i.e. asleep, but not switched off), or physically switched off?

LEICAKS Posted August 15, 2021 Share #20  Posted August 15, 2021 I have admittedly not tried to disable the Bluetooth standby feature in the menu to see if this is the root of the drain. This bluetooth feature turns the camera on again even from the fully physically 'Shut off' position. I'll give it a try and see if this remedies the issue.
