Mark II Posted July 24, 2021 Share #1 Posted July 24, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have just bought a Q2M, and I notice that the JPEG contrast settings appear affect the histogram. Does anyone know what the optimal JPEG setting is so that the histogram accurately represents exposure in the DNG prior to any processing? I would like to reply on the histogram for exposure since the Q2M overexposure blinking is not configurable, and quite annoying in use given the black/white flashing. On the M10 you can program the thresholds for under/over exposure and these are shown in colour on the live-view display - something that would works especially well with a monochrome sensor. Advertisement Posted July 24, 2021 Posted July 24, 2021 Hi Mark II, Take a look here Q2 Monochrom, Histogram and JPEG Contrast. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted July 28, 2021 Share #2 Posted July 28, 2021 Of course the jpg settings affect the histogram. It will never be100% accurate for the DNG, as it is based on the jpg. If you want to avoid blown out highlights avoid a spike in the histogram on the righthand edge. However you have a bit of a safety margin. It would be difficult to produce coloured flashing as the processing in the camera is monochrome and not a conversion. The LCD can produce colour, though.
