earlyadopter Posted August 31, 2007 Author Share #22 Posted August 31, 2007 I was scared by Michael's reply about the used unit that he don't know if it'll be possible to register it. After reading what demo unit could be (registered to somebody else software and gone ir/cut filters) I don't know if it worth a try.
grober Posted August 31, 2007 Share #23 Posted August 31, 2007 Go to Tony or Alex at PopFlash.com. Excellent people to do business with. Here here! Couldn't agree more. PopFlash.com exceeds even the vaunted Nordstroms standard of excellent service. -g
el fotografo Posted September 1, 2007 Share #24 Posted September 1, 2007 Because of the jewish faith, i believe it is the sabbath . I'm not jewish so could be wrong on the name. They follow every jewish holiday to the letter always have and always will. B and H is owned and operated by Orthodox Jews who closely follow the rule of the Torah. They close on Friday afternoons and all day Saturday for the Sabbath, during which they pray, fast, and are not allowed to work or handle money. The definition of work is very broad so that even turning on a light switch is not allowed. (The answer to this are light switch timers or non-jews who help out during the Sabbath.) B and H is one of my favorite places in NYC and I always find an excuse to go to buy some film and check things out. The salespeople are extremely knowledgeable and open to questions, and there are bowls of candy, and free soft drinks and pretzels to keep everyone happy. With the dollar at a low to the Euro, I can't even walk into the store these days.

ArtZ Posted September 1, 2007 Share #26 Posted September 1, 2007 With the dollar at a low to the Euro, I can't even walk into the store these days. Hi there! I'm maybe wrong but I have the impression that prices are much cheaper in the USA than Europe, especially with Japaneese goods. I find that the price you pay there in Dollars it's the price in Europe but in Euros (though 35% more expensive)... and sometimes it's even more here. Leica prices are cheaper in the US. Taxes here are also much moe expensive (16 to 21%, depending on the Country... Our "Jet Set" President N. Sarkozy would love to increase V.A.T from 21.6 to 25%!) and salaries in Europe are not as high as in the US. Did you know that 50% of French people earns less than 1500 € per month? (Source: Ministry of Economy). On the other hand we have Social coverage, a good public transport, etc. But for how long? N. Sarkozy is doing all what he can to get rid of these advantages... I know this is a bit out of topic, but I think it must be known. .
carstenw Posted September 1, 2007 Share #27 Posted September 1, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Average salaries in Europe may not be as high, but I would be very surprised if median salaries are lower.

I used to live in NY and i still go twice a year and every time i go , I visit B&H . To me it is a special store with great folks and a world of goodies like a kid in a candy store. I sent my wife in for me on one of her trips and she is not remotely interested in camera's and bulked at me to go . But she caved in and went . One minute after she left the store she called me in excitement about that was about the coolest store she has seen. Now she loves to go with me but heck i can't buy my toys with her there . LOL I have been buying from them for over 34 years.
