Riley Posted August 31, 2007 Share #3 Posted August 31, 2007 there's a lot of side chat going on about the sensor said to be a Trine FFT (Full Frame Transfer) CCD and this time 5 stops effective IS some would recall MR at Luminous Landscape iterate that it was foveonesque my feeling is the sensor is sourced from Kodak, and indeed has foveon properties and no bayer filter well we have to wait to Oct 17 to find out i guess Welcome, dear visitor! rosuna Posted August 31, 2007 Share #8 Posted August 31, 2007 It isn't the same camera. For instance, compare the prism.
Riley Posted August 31, 2007 Share #9 Posted August 31, 2007 The camera in the picture isn't the E3. does seem a different shape prism, but i think its the low angle it is viewed from. It has the grip off and no lens fitted, you can see the blocky lens mount with a flat bottom, no other is like that. It cant be any other camera, notice the lack of a mode dial which all the rest have, and the crescent shape beneath the word OLYMPUS as no other model has that. E1 on the left and E3 on the right and the 510 with obvious mode dial
jdlaing Posted September 1, 2007 Share #10 Posted September 1, 2007 That's not the E3 on the right either.
Riley Posted September 2, 2007 Share #11 Posted September 2, 2007 its the prototype from wrotniak's site, the real E3 has only just appeared i assume the image was compiled to highlight the differences between the two as they were known and to perhaps induce an element of scale
jdlaing Posted September 2, 2007 Share #12 Posted September 2, 2007 The scale is very telling. I'm glad they kept the size down and not a brick like some others.

lemalk Posted September 5, 2007 Share #14 Posted September 5, 2007 They sound very promising - all the technical advances, but truth be told, I was getting used to seeing that wonderful pseudo-rangefinder look of the Digilux 2 and 3. Here's hoping PanaLeica keep their aesthetic signature alive through this new generation camera.
mjh Posted September 5, 2007 Share #15 Posted September 5, 2007 I was getting used to seeing that wonderful pseudo-rangefinder look of the Digilux 2 and 3. According to Olympus, people were complaining that cameras like the E-300 or E-330 weren’t “real” SLRs, because they didn’t look like SLRs – somehow, a SLR needs a pentaprism or pentamirror, or it won’t be accepted. Psychology aside, the Porro viewfinder also has the disadvantage of a third reflecting surface that makes for a darker viewfinder image.

The 4/3 format is very small. It is 3,8 times smaller than 35mm format. On the other hand, the OM had one of the best viewfinders of any reflex camera (gorgeus). Riley Posted September 6, 2007 Share #19 Posted September 6, 2007 MR over at luminous Landscape actually said 'foveonesque' foveon is CMOS, but this is a CCD, and i suspect its Kodak technology
rosuna Posted September 8, 2007 Share #20 Posted September 8, 2007 Trine isn't Foveon: TRINE: The operation mechanism of a charge modulation device (CMD) imagesensor That is a link to the original "TRINE" patent of Olympus.
