I've read a few posts that say that Pelican Pick and Pluck is no good because it disintegrates over time and can damage your gear.

Does anybody applaud or object to this little 1150 + TrekPak system here for my M10? Note: A silica desiccant pack is on its way to me.

This would be for general storage at home while I'm not out shooting (I'm not a pro) so it would entail a fairly decent amount of time in captivity for my camera.

Alternate, potentially simpler option would be an Artisan & Artist pouch—

Pelicans are great to trash around and shelter your gear from apocalyptic conditions and rain. To carry around and take your camera/in and out like you would from a regular photo bag? Not so much.

Foam will eventually dry and desintegrate after a (long time) but you can switch for other paddings.

The 1150 was also the smallest case I could find to fit a M10 and most lenses.

I keep mine for daily use in a Newswear Small Press pouch ; for storage that drops into the 1150 with no foam or dividers.

Would you say an M10 with a Summilux FLE (as shown in the photo) would fit into that pouch?

I havent heard the extent of damage foam has to camera gear. Perhaps anecdotal accounts...

I use pelican cases as a dry box to avoid moisture / humidity  affecting camera gear which is more of a pressing issue. You'd be surprised how humidity can fluctuate in a home.

Apart from having a dry cabinet a dry box/ pelican case is the only way to avoid moisture during storage. The pelican cases are good at keeping humidity down between 30-45% provided silica gel is kept within it and regularly replenished. Moisture can get trapped in the the case when frequently opening and closing. Ive placed a wireless digital humidity gauge into the case to measure this and it can add up 10% from when opening, however It depends on where you live i guess. The gauge is important in knowing when to replenish the gel.

Also the pelican case can be placed into a safe compared to dry cabinets which arent as secure...

The acam-61/60 is the pouch i prefer as i would safely pop it in and out of the case and into a bag if you dont prefer the foam since it has padding

This is -as a general point of attention- only applicable to the foam they used in the 80ties and 90ties of last century, not to modern foam.

You can buy archival plastazote foam which is nitrogen filled polyethylene foam if you are seriously concerned about long term storage. One thing though, if you use a Pelicase (I have many) the you MUST use a dessicant in the case because moisture can neither get in nor can it get out. I use indicator silica gel which can be checked to make sure that it is still active and can be recharged and reused. All my gear is stored in Pelicases (I have 12 I think includinh a huge one) and they are great.

Colour coding the boxes helps when puling them from the secure dry cabinet.

I would not be concerned about the pick and pluck. I've used a Pelican 1200 as my boat/M case for the last 14 or 15 years. It keeps my M10, 3 lenses, and 3 spare batteries safe and dry while occupying a minimal amount of space. I've never experienced any problems with the pick and pluck. It looks as new as the day I plucked out the shape of my old M8. The case and contents are perfect for crossing oceans or bouncing about in a dusty truck.
