Tried taking a photo of the Milky Way with my TL2 + 11-23 (FW 1.5)over the weekend and noticed a really bad problem on import. I imported it into Lightroom for iPad (as well as my Mac via the Photos app) and as you can see the image has this weird magenta cast to it. Settings were 11mm, F3.5, ISO 3200, 30 s exposure. On the camera in playback mode, the photo looks normal–no magenta cast. Has anyone else seen this? I've tried importing using various methods with the same result

It appears that something went totally wrong in the import in LR - check your settings. However, it can be turned intomquite an impressive image:

Yeah I’m not sure what is going on during the import. I’ve tried importing to both my Mac and iPad to both LR and literally a drag and drop of the file into the Finder and it results in images with this magenta cast. I wonder if it’s an Apple bug that’s present on both macOS and iPadOS. The weird thing is this only happens for photos w a 30 s exposure and mandatory in-camera NR. Unfortunately, we don’t have any non-Apple products in the house to test if this happens on Windows.

Below is what it looks like in playback mode on the camera…

Seems this is a high ISO problem rather than exposure problem. Image taken right before this was at ISO 1600, which didn't trigger the in-camera NR process and came out nicely.

I get that too with autofocus zooms, both Leica and Sigma. Never with manual focus (say M lenses), and I haven’t seen it happen with my primes (23mm Summicron TL, or Sigma 1.4 primes). Nor did it ever happen with my T—just with the TL2.

I still don’t know why it happens. It is nearly impossible to process the .DNGs to satisfaction. However the .JPGs usually come out of the camera just fine color-wise (even when the DNG files do their horror movie thing) and can be well-edited without much trouble.

Leica, if you’re reading, please fix this!!!!  The TL2 is otherwise really a nice camera for astrophotography, especially equipped with the articulating Visoflex.

Something has not gone well.
For these types of photos, you have to try multiple times with different settings to find the hot spot on the camera. This happens in TL2 and in all cameras.
Perhaps the automatic settings that the camera gives you in SCENE (SCN) at night can serve as a reference.

The camera is better to take it with settings in the DNG and JPG and JPG formats at a maximum resolution of 24 M. That way if you don't like the DNG image due to some problem, you can use and edit the JPG, with a good resolution. and noise reduction. .
