Good camera and lens choice.

I would bring an iPad with cellular connectivity to review your photos and more importantly to help plan your days:  there will likely still be some places closed due to covid staff shortages or just not opening this year. Accommodation and transport will require advance booking. If you are lucky restrictions will clear in August, but no expectations it will be business as normal.

Orkney is well worth a few days if you are traveling north of Inverness - by road or train, ferry or air ; the journey is rewarding.

Albert, have a look at this site https://www.brightwaterholidays.com/browse-tours/  .  Their varied itineraries show many attractions. I have used them for gardens tours in UK and can recommend their choices of destinations and hotels. You would also benefit from congenial company. Possibly you could combine a short Brightwater tour with your own preferences. Late cancellations could work in your favour, as some people double-book in case foreign travel restrictions ease. I write as a satisfied customer in the past. I have no other connection with the company.

I might add a couple of points to the Andrew Tobin link I posted yesterday.

I took a DL-109 with a 24-75 equivalent lens to the Lake District (take a look at some pictures you can find taken by people here but also the general Google search will give you a sense of scale) and I never really felt I was lacking.

Today I would take the CL+ 18-56, possibly a Sigma 30mm f.14 and likely the TL 55-135.

In terms of clothing Britain has a damp cold which creeps up on you, and is very different from the cold but dry Fall weather we get in the MidWest. Layers, a bright colored top layer, good waterproof walking shoes and gloves with detachable fingers for shooting if it’s cold, and a waterproof camera bag, energy bars and a flashlight.

And PLEASE try Haggis, neeps and tatties!
