Richard K Posted July 12, 2021 Share #1 Posted July 12, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) It’s nice to discuss things in theory but I would be interested in hearing a real life comparison of prints. Theoretically there should be more detail in the Monoqrom print since every pixel contributes?
Advertisement Posted July 12, 2021 Posted July 12, 2021 Hi Richard K, Take a look here Has anyone here compared Q2 and Q2 Monochrom prints?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Marc B-C Posted July 12, 2021 Share #2 Posted July 12, 2021 A connection on a Fuji forum (who is a B&W fanatic and a superb photographer) asked for DNG files from my Q2 but also from another connection with a Q2M. His comment to me was he believed he could get the same results with post processing from a Q2 as that from a Q2M but wanted to check. He subsequently bought the Q2M. Not a direct answer to your question but to him there was a significant enough difference in the A3 prints he made (he also include a RAW set from an iPhone 11 and was staggered how good it was) to select the Q2M. He did not share the prints and my DNGs were landscape with the other fellow's being street. Not perhaps very scientific, but he went for the Q2M not believing he would. marchyman Posted July 12, 2021 Share #3 Posted July 12, 2021 Did you not see the video posted in the other thread on this topic you started or did it not answer your questions? This post:
Richard K Posted July 12, 2021 Author Share #4 Posted July 12, 2021 Thanks for reply Marc B-C. Seeing a difference in prints is what I was wondering about. I did watch the video referenced by marchyman but was not overwhelmed by the differences. Certainly not as much increase in detail as might be expected from the arguments presented about removing the colour filters at the pixel sites. Still hoping to see a post of a large print direct comparison. Surely someone must have done this? 🙂

Describing your connection on a Fuji forum got my attention(having just traded all my Fuji gear and waiting for a Q2), you are surely talking about BRIAN@1940. If so, he is indeed a superb photographer and a master at "The art of seeing". He is also the reason for the dive into the Leica world. Known on the Fuji forum as the "Grumpy Guru", Brian is a master at this craft.
