giannis Posted July 7, 2021 Share #21 Posted July 7, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) One important datapoint missing, is frame spacing. If the frame spacing is fine, I wouldn't worry too much about it. If the frame spacing is irregular, then it's a mechanical issue somewhere along the line (lever, gearing, etc.) and should be taken care of, both for practical reasons right now (avoiding frame overlap) and to avoid potential jams later on. Advertisement Posted July 7, 2021 Posted July 7, 2021 Hi giannis, Take a look here "New" Leica MP (purchased from store pre-owned) has creaky level when cocked. No hard stop. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!

I don't think that is an indicator of problems. On all my M's frame spacing can be different if I do one clean sweep of the advance lever or take two bites at it (sometimes two bites is more discreet). And frame spacing can change with the angle of view of the lens, so combine both and results are changeable but not 'wrong'.

Obviously there is some "play" with all cameras, but I think both of us can tell when irregular spacing is an issue and not within tolerances. For instance, a 1/3rd of a frame overlap is definitely outside of normal tolerances.
