stumac Posted August 31, 2007 Share #41 Â Posted August 31, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Like Ken I have a similar investment in R glass, 3 bodies 10 lenses, sitting unused since purchasing a Digilux 2, and would love to use again. Â If Guy's figure is near the mark, equates to approx A$ 10,000 then I would be in heaven (photographically). Â Regards, Stuart
Advertisement Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 Hi stumac, Take a look here OK Leica- R10 digital fact or fiction Tell US!. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
mgcd Posted August 31, 2007 Share #42 Â Posted August 31, 2007 Ken - No one can actually quote prices for the "yet to be released" "R10", so all you can have are guesses. The only way we'll know for sure is when it is released and /or presented. Â Cheers,
ptomsu Posted August 31, 2007 Share #43 Â Posted August 31, 2007 Coming back to the original theme - Leica won't tell you! NOT before another year has passed. Talked yesterday to some Leica reps. and they made that VERY clear. No information. Â So all is guesswork and who does not like that - well there are 2 other vendors meanwhile offering FF DSLRs you can choose from. Â So good luck for choosing. ptomsu Posted August 31, 2007 Share #44 Â Posted August 31, 2007 Most likely will be around the same price as a 1dsMKIII ,my guess 7600.00 Â Guy, come on, how do you recon these prices? There is no information about the R10, if FF or not, how many MP or not - just saying anything is less than speculation - it is just NOTHING.
ptomsu Posted August 31, 2007 Share #45  Posted August 31, 2007 Certainly there will be an R10..... and also an R11 one day.  Digital camera =short market life, leica's business is lenses NOT cameras   ..and i don't automatcially assume that the R10 will offer more then the current R9/DMR combo..... it might be a lower cost alternitive body that supports R lenses, support the business.  Look at the digitial camera industry, an all Digital R10 will have the marketability of a few years at most - just like computers and various other electronics.  I would expect when leica goes fully digital with the R series we will see that leica will to have new camera body offerings every few years to keep current.  The mechanical film based leica is a completely different product.... and has a completely different market.  IMHO: those who want a long term digital solution will not get it  R11 ????  If they do not go bankrupt before, then there are som chances in 6 to 10 years from now on :-)))))

Peter it will be in the same class as the 1dsMKIII just like the DMR was . Canon 1dsMKII 7400.00, DMR R9 was overpriced at 8400.00 or 5995 for the DMR and 2400 to 2800 for a R9. In which the price of the R9 dropped pretty heavy at one time. Anyway it will tetter in that league and any higher with a 18 mpx FF sensor will have folks looking at the Canon more, it has to be competitive. Frankly as much barking about the M8 price it really is low for what it is compared to the DMR with almost identical images. Sales of the M8 went way beyond what was expected in the last 10 months. Also combining the body and back into one piece will also keep costs down instead of 2 seperate items at there R&D costs and manufacturing costs. That is my guess around that 7600 mark and i will be in line for one along with a new 18 mpx FF M9 at 5400.00. I am allowed to guess am I not:D

I am not sure - I wait for the Nikon D3X which should come with 24MP FF for a price like the Canon 1DsMKIII - but with Nikon Quality :-))
Guest guy_mancuso Posted August 31, 2007 Share #48 Â Posted August 31, 2007 Peter don't be surprised at anything coming. If they can stick a 18 mpx FF chip in a R10 than take that same chip and stick it in a M9 , of course there is some issues they will have to solve no question, IR for one and the micro lens for vignetting but i believe it can be done . Leica wants FF for there glass , don't let anyone tell you different. It's just a matter of technology and getting it done correctly. And as each day goes by the technology gets better. i just learned Sony is sitting on there own FF sensor for any takers. Not sure what it is but if Nikon finally went full frame than there is something to be said about the technology out there. We just have to wait and that is the hard part but I really do have a lot of faith in Leica and maybe more than others but i talk to these folks and there simply on the move with product coming, they are not collecting money and sitting around. Frankly It is a great time to be a leica user and time will tell us that

Frankly It is a great time to be a leica user and time will tell us that  Guy,  really looking forward to that. Only thing I hpe is that the FF is >22MP just to be in the same liga as Canon (and Nikon with their coming D3X).  I still prefer the M and the R system, but I do not like their D system and what is coming from Pana in that area, especially the lenses. I always have the impression that these are uilt to give peaple the possibility to say "oh I am using a Leica lens and it is so much better than ..." but in fact this glass is not even coming close to the R and M galss and is even beow Olympus glass of the 4/3.  So hope to see FF M and R :-))
