dpattinson Posted August 29, 2007 Share #1 Posted August 29, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Some shots from Notting Hill Carnival, taken with the M8 and 24mm elmarit asph, sharpie coded and with the IR filter in place. I've marked the iso on the ones I've loaded to Flickr in the tags, can be seen here: http://flickr.com/invite/history/guests/?open=72157601744282843#gp_72157601744282843 enjoy, David. Michael-IIIf Posted August 30, 2007 Share #3 Posted August 30, 2007 Excellent series. This is proof to me that the M8 really can do "that film look". I surprised the 24 gives so much Out Of Focus. Are you sure you haven't PhotoShopped these a bit? Michael
dpattinson Posted August 30, 2007 Author Share #4 Posted August 30, 2007 Excellent series. This is proof to me that the M8 really can do "that film look". I surprised the 24 gives so much Out Of Focus. Are you sure you haven't PhotoShopped these a bit? Michael Michael, the oof is all from the lens at 2.8, but most of these are shot at less than 5 feet, and a few at down to 70cm - so that helps a lot. I miss the focus sometimes, but that's just the price you pay and it isn't the most important thing anyway - life is a little blurry at Carnival after all I did of course tweak the contrast and colour both during raw conversion and later in PS. I was thinking of projected slides when I was doing the editing, so looking for plenty of black and strong colours.

dpattinson Posted September 1, 2007 Author Share #9 Posted September 1, 2007 Thanks all for the kind comments. I've just realised while playing around with C1 that I had been leaving the default noise reduction settings on... not a very good idea if you're shooting at 160/320 - the amount of extra micro-detail that popped out when I turned it off was actually pretty astonishing.
