fernando_b Posted August 30, 2007 Share #2 Â Posted August 30, 2007 In first the horse (Pegasus?) seems to say to the plane: "If I weren't of stone, I'd show to you how to fly!" Fernando.
biglouis Posted August 30, 2007 Share #3 Â Posted August 30, 2007 Three very nice shots of the subject. The first two have interesting movement as a counterpoint to the statue. Â LouisB
mark_goode Posted August 30, 2007 Author Share #4 Â Posted August 30, 2007 Thanks LouisB. Your comment about the first two having movement as a counterpoint to the statue was deliberate. In fact, I sequenced them in descending order: plane and then bike. Â But when I was taking these images I was reminded of a story told to me by a gentleman while we were standing in his office in Crystal City (near Reagan National Airport) overlooking the George Washington Parkway and the Potomac River. He said that from his office he has seen every form of transportation used by man: people walking, riding bikes, horse back riding, horse drawn carriages, motorcycles, cars, trucks, canoes, sailboats, powered boats, and because of the proximity to Reagan Airport, every manner of aircraft. Â So asked him: what about space craft? He said, "well, years ago NASA wanted to show Congress what their billions had purchased in the Shuttle program. So they loaded a shuttle atop a Boeing 747 and flew it down the Potomac River, around the Capitol Building, and back out again. Â Now THAT would have been an image to capture! (Ahhh, our tax dollars at work . . .)
