fm13 Posted May 21, 2021 Share #1 Posted May 21, 2021 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) --EDIT-- Found this thread.. seems like I'll have to send it in.. damn, 2nd time in 2 years that I need to repair it, despite always carrying it in a protective bag.. --- Well, the other day, looking through the viewfinder I noticed a diagonal "haze", it's visible in daylight as some sort of overlay, but when I look through it with the lens cover on it's quite visible. It doesn't affect the photos (why would it) but I wonder if it's a crack or if it's dirt (wishful thinking).. I mean, what are the odds of cracking it, has anyone had this before? Advertisement Posted May 21, 2021 Posted May 21, 2021 Hi fm13, Take a look here Is the viewfinder cracked? . I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted May 21, 2021 Share #2 Posted May 21, 2021 It looks a bit jagged for a crack.
dogman1911 Posted May 23, 2021 Share #3 Posted May 23, 2021 The same thing happened to my camera (as noted in the other thread you referenced). My speculation is that it is small strips of brush used to keep dust out of the viewfinder internally and whatever holds it in place - adhesive, clamp, other method - is failing to do its job. I sent my camera off in the middle of March and got the repair estimate late in April. Now I'm just waiting to get my camera back.
wda Posted May 24, 2021 Share #4 Posted May 24, 2021 I fear the EVF will need replacement. I reported on this topic in one of your referenced threads.
