Advertisement Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 Hi surgiblade, Take a look here Are Sandisk SD cards safe for use with DMR ?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
robsteve Posted August 28, 2007 Share #2 Posted August 28, 2007 Mike: The DMR originally shipped with the Sandisk Ultra II cards. I use the 2gb Ultra II cards, along with some Transcend 150x 2gb cards without any problems. The new firmware may allow the use of the 4gb cards which are not SDHC. The DMR uses firewire to tether to the PC. If you do not have firewire on your PC, a firewire card can be bought quite cheap. I have one in my desktop and use a PCMCIA firewire card for the Laptop. After SD cards, a second battery should be on your list of things to buy. The DMR battery isn't that big and will not last a day of shooting.

andybarton Posted August 28, 2007 Share #5 Posted August 28, 2007 I would recommend using an external card reader, rather than the firewire connection. The socket looks expensive to repair if it gets damaged... I bought a second battery for mine, but I get over 300 shots, with review screen, out of one battery. 2 weekends ago, I shot 500 frames, with loads of juice left in the second battery. bono0272 Posted August 29, 2007 Share #6 Posted August 29, 2007 I have Sandisk Ultra II, Extreme III, a Ridata 2 GB, and some 1GB Kingston SD cards, the new DMR firmware supports them all.
dmr_bob Posted August 30, 2007 Share #7 Posted August 30, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Does any one know if new SanDisk Extreme Ducati Edition SD Plus 4GB cards compatible with the DMR? I have used nothing but SanDisk SD cards with my DMR ... the only problem I had was with the previous firmware ... it was not detecting when the disk was full. dhsimmonds Posted August 31, 2007 Share #8 Posted August 31, 2007 Transcend 4gb 150x SD cards work fine with firmware v-3. 201 RAW images can be stored.
Sandokan Posted September 4, 2007 Share #9 Posted September 4, 2007 I just read in American Photo about the large number of fake memory cards and batteries (for popular cameras) on eBay. The memory cards may be produced in the same factory but with lower levels of QC.
graeme_clarke Posted September 4, 2007 Share #10 Posted September 4, 2007 Andy - I struggle to get 100 shots (full RAW) from one battery - with review on , and the sleep setting at 2 mins. The best I got was 150 from a 3rd new battery bought a couple of months ago (the other 2 are 2 years old now and have been recharged about 50 times). What's the secret? I use Sandisk Ultra 11 and Ultra 111 (2GB) - no trouble - but never let the battery discahrge to the point when it shuts the camera down - you can lose images that way and have to use recovery software to get them back. Guest rubidium Posted September 4, 2007 Share #11 Posted September 4, 2007 I too use Transcend 4GB 150x SD cards with no problem. They worked fine with firmware 1.2 and they continue to work fine with firmware 1.3. I also get 201 RAW images on this card. Jim
