I posted similar question within M-mount section of the forum. I'm also interested in Laowa vs Heliar vs Sigma 12-24 comparison...
Simone_DF Posted June 2, 2021 Share #3 Posted June 2, 2021 Not a SL review, but performance should be same or similar https://phillipreeve.net/blog/review-laowa-15mm-4-5-zero-d-shift/
Nick De Marco Posted June 2, 2021 Share #4 Posted June 2, 2021 I bought the Laowa 15mm f/2 Zero-D In L mount for my new collection of L cameras (Leica CL, Sigma fpL & Lumix S9). Very impressed indeed with the lens. It’s quite small & light, but feels well built with aperture ring and nice focus throw. It’s very fast for an ultra wide but what blows me away is how good it is at combatting rectangular distortion, especially in the centre of the frame. Far better than many other less wide wides (even at 28mm) I’ve used. 2

AphotoBerlin Posted June 6, 2021 Share #10 Posted June 6, 2021 way to wide for architecture in my opinion. Sweet spot for that kind of photography is 24mm (outside) or maybe 19mm (interior), but definitely not 17mm or 15mm like in this case.

I often use it as a shift lens, shooting vertically. In fact, I wish I had the 12mm.
dkCambridgeshire Posted August 15, 2021 Share #12 Posted August 15, 2021 (edited) I'm considering acquiring the Laowa 15mm f/4.5 Zero-D Shift for use with my SL 601 - whether I do partly depends on experiments using my existing Panasonic S1R / TL 11-23mm combination which could suffice for many situations (FF equiv. 16-35mm (ish) , 20.68MP cropped sensor). Judicious use of non-shift ultrawides can produce good verticals with minimal 'post' perspective correction. One potential 'negative' of the Laowa 15mm shift optic is its accessory filter holder ... which would require use of modified (with magnetic strips) 100x150 grads. I'm not so happy about having to potentially 'double up' on my existing Lee graduated filters and stick magnetic strips on them ... assuming they will not then fit in the Lee filter holder. Also, I cannot find any good independent reviews of the Laowa magnetic filter holder ... the few I've found are time-wasting 'unboxings'. Has anyone tried the Laowa magnetic filter holder? Does it result in vignetting? Are you happy with it? Would you recommend it? Are there any 'workarounds' enabling use of non-Laowa non-magnetic holders? Jk1002 Posted February 11, 2022 Share #13 Posted February 11, 2022 Am curious about this lens, specifically on he Sl. Any more opinions?
dkCambridgeshire Posted February 11, 2022 Share #14 Posted February 11, 2022 I'll be posting some LAWA 14mm f4 images taken with my SL in due course .. so far only taken a couple of test shots using a friend's CL and happy with the lens as regards lack of distortion and no CA detected. Bought the s/h lens earlier this week and the magnetic filter holder should arrive next week. I bought the Canon 17mm TS-E for use on the SL in preference to the Laowa 15mm f/4.5 Zero-D Shift ... but have not used the Canon 17mm TS-E yet as recovering from hand injuries ... it's a heavy lens . I can manage the 14mm OK ... it's tiny in comparison. I chose the 17mm TS-E because it has a tilt function and managed to find the lens s/h at an advantageous price ... and figured it would hold its price better than a Laowa 15mm f/4.5 Zero-D Shift . But was a close call as to which shift lens I bought. The Laowa 14mm is a tiny lens in comparison ... fits into a large pocket. dunk
Jk1002 Posted February 18, 2022 Share #15 Posted February 18, 2022 (edited) Is it worth adding a tilt shift for travel documentation photography? I am mulling my next lens purchase, have Sl 601 and 24-90. I was thinking about the 16-35 Sl but not sure rthat the extra 8 mm are worth to deal with switching the lens. Something like the Laowa might make more sense. JK Edited February 18, 2022 by Jk1002

The difference between 16mm and 24mm is quite significant. It’s like the difference between 24mm and 35mm but in the other direction. As for tilt-shift, unless you’re shooting with a tripod, I wouldn’t want to deal with tilt-shift lenses and actually using the tilt-shift functionality.
