Giuliobigazzi Posted February 8, 2024 Share #21 Posted February 8, 2024 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) I’ve just found this chrome bell push Elmar, serial 122388, chrome is shinier than usual, 5cm instead of 50mm though, so probable rechroming. What lens would have these bright chrome Leicas be supplied with? And when did the change to 5cm happen? Welcome, dear visitor! wlaidlaw Posted February 11, 2024 Share #22 Posted February 11, 2024 My 1932 5cm chrome Hektor, bought new by my great uncle in 1934 with his Model III, is a sort of half way house. Brighter than the usual brushed finish chrome but not so hard and shiny as the images some have posted. The only bit that is truly bright chrome is the sliding barrel but I think that is normal to avoid friction. The front ring is very slightly shinier than the back ring. This must be one of the earlier chrome lenses. Serial number 140871. Wilson 1
