SL2-S Issue with Focus Assist & M Glass

When I take a photo using an M lens the contrast assist works, but when I take the next photo the contrast assist does not work. Then the third photo or works. It should work in every shot.
 

Any idea as to why?

I misspoke, I meant Focus Peaking.

Make sure you have pressed FN button to engage the Focus peaking, when pressing FN button every press you going to different mode of display there is one for display with focus peaking 👌

Thanks for the suggestion. I have focus peaking engaged and the only button I press is the shutter button. I decided to reset the function buttons and shall see if the problem is eliminated.
