Thanks for the comments on each of these items @ravinj.

I might just focus on M240 so I can make use of my R lenses as well.😀

Make sure to get the EVF (Oly VF-2) if you plan to use the R lenses. And the Leica R to M adapter -a bit pricey but solid build quality with ability to attach tripod plate. Can be had used for $300 or under in the US. I used my APO Elmarit-R 180MM on the M240. Beautiful results.

https://diglloyd.com/ has some of the best samples I have seen from M240 + APO Elmarit 100MM, but they are behind a paid wall.

Stunning results that quickly put to rest any concerns about M240's old sensor :)

Got that. Thanks.

Should I go for a M-P 240 or M-E 240, from Thorsten Overgaard’s this article, it seems the M-P one got 2G buffer. To be honest I don’t quite understand his meaning when talking about the difference between  P and E 240.

Also, my local dealer is offering this brass top version, which, I think is for collection purposes or show off instead of photographing.

Both have 2GB buffer. The "original" M 240 had 1GB buffer.

P 240 has "scratch" resistant LCD. Is more expensive, marketed as cosmetically better looking.

The LCD on the other two variants is also tough and with a protector on, more than scratch resistant.

Personally, I don't pay a premium for looks or "upgrades" and would go for the one that is cheaper. In good condition, obviously.

I see. Thanks.

Further research shows that ME 240 has mono mic and no built in speaker while P 240 has stereo mic and built in speaker- not that important.

How to differ the "original M240" with 1G buffer and P 240? I guess 1G or 2G buffer does matters.

I am a slow shooter so didn't have any issues with the buffer size. If you do a lot of rapid or burst shooting 2GB should be better.

Got it.

The more I dig, the harder for me to resist the temptation to get a M246.

Is there anything I need to pay attention to the monochrome one?

Just won an auction for a near new M246.

I started this post thinking of M10/M10M. Never though I would go for a M246. I'm really happy for the result and grateful for everyone helped me to get here! Thanks you!

Sometimes, some questions lead to

...

better choice 😉

M(typ 246) !

nice find, I'm so happy with mine even I planned to buy M10 Monochrom,

I'm so happy that I can keep the two first Monochroms which complete each other very well.
