I have no complaints about the Zeiss Distagon 1,4/35mm ZM. Its images are pleasing to my eyes. I was already accustomed to relatively large SLR lenses, and then started Leica M shooting with a Summilux-M 50mm ASPH, which is not a small Leica M lens, so I did not establish an initial expectation that all M-mount lenses should be compact. (I have acquired 35mm and 28mm Summarons, and a collapsible 50mm Elmar, so do appreciate compact Leica lenses, too.)

I agree with those who prefer the aesthetic appearance of the silvery version. I bought the black version, first, because it was pre-owned, and fit my budget, in a time when it was rare to find a silvery version offered, new or pre-owned. Later, when my budget improved, I bought the silvery version, new, during a Zeiss price promotion, which, in the USA, seems to occur at the end of the year, ending at midnight 31 December. Because I occasionally like to shoot with both an M10 and a Monochrom 246, at the same time, I now have a pair of the 1,4/35mm ZM Distagons.

The glaring, contrasting, shiny, metal rim, which is present on both versions, does seem more annoying on the black lens, but this can be largely concealed by the hood/shade.

Allow me to close the thread with the same photo of my opening post. There is just one difference. A few member noticed a change of colours when uploading a photo. I noticed it, too. Someone (can't remember who) proposed to change the output colour profile. Now then, I changed the working profile and the output profile to sRGB for this photo. Let's see how it goes.
