Surely with a 28mm lens hyperfocal/zone focus is a reasonable way to focus albeit a compromised method. With auto-focus the machine decides on focus and mostly/sometimes gets it right which is also compromised. Hyperfocal also still can focus without contrast in the scene but AF on the Q cannot.
