Hi,

I have just purchased this lens for my SL2.  I will be using it for landscapes and portrait photography.

I have 2 questions or those with this lens and camera combo:

1- Can you program the function button on the lens from the SL2?  If so, I can’t find the right menu option.  I was looking under customisation

2- Would I lose too much sharpness with the 2x TC vs 1.4x?

Thanks

.

I have the Lumix 70-200 2.8 but only have been using it on an S1R, as the 90-280 is sharper on an SL2 while the IBIS + OIS on the 70-200 only works together on the S1R (as far as I can tell).  Leica has learned to program certain lens functions on its own lenses to work as was possible on the S1R, for example linear rotation response for focusing.  But I haven't seen any Leica  firmware for functions only possible on a non-Leica lens..

As for 2, you'll have to borrow and try, then use your own judgement.

Ok, thank you for your response.  Do you have and use any of the pana TCs?  If so, which one?

I use the 70-200 with the 1.4 and 2.0 (be aware 👇) my experience is that with the 1.4 almost no lose in sharpness and speed, with the 2.0 visible loss in sharpness and bit hunting in low light but certainly acceptable. As Scott already said, the 90-280 is a different level.

I used the 70-200 for the first time yesterday and I am very impressed with its sharpness.  Sounds like the 1.4 is the way to go
