carstenw Posted August 25, 2007 Share #21 Posted August 25, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Rob, I used a Sandisk III 2GB but had some minor trouble, so I switched to Ultra II 2GB, and have had no troubles since. I bought the versions with the built-in USB plug, which are very convenient.

como Posted August 25, 2007 Share #22 Posted August 25, 2007 Hello Rob, We make bicycle tours in our holidays every year, about 1000 -1200 km. The M8 goes with me on these tours together with a CV 15 mm, Elmarit 24 mm, Summilux 35 mm and Summicron 90 mm. This all fits in an old Agu photo-cycling bag in front of me at the handlebars. This year I also took with me the Visoflex III with 200 mm, but hardly used it. I am very satisfied with the M8 and made some fine photographs during this holiday around North Cape. grduprey Posted August 25, 2007 Share #26 Posted August 25, 2007 Dear Speenth, My wife is now convinced to sell the R 9 and the DMR and make the switch to the M8 with a 28 mm. and a 75 mm. for the time being. I have several SD cards from sandisc but i read that these cards are not the best choise with the M 8 What kind of cards do you use ? Thanks, Rob I use the Sandisk SD cards and they work great. As to the advice given here it is all good, however, as to dumping the R9/DMR, If you use long lenses, >90mm then I'd keep the R system also. I own the M8 and love it,but for shooting birds etc it is very hamstrung. I would love to have a DMR to stick on my R8. As for lenses on the M8, the new 28/2.8 Asph Elmarit is great, and priced very nice for Leica glass, but can be hard to find. I am retiring at the end of the year and will have the same decisions to make, but I still want the DMR for the R8, as I love to shoot wildlife also and the M8 just does not cut it there, but for just about everything else it is fantastic. Co Morriën Dear Co, good advice !! Now I am thinking to buy the M8 with 24 or 28 and 75 and perhaps keep also the R 9 + DMR. But....... on a bike the R 9 and DMR are heavy together. scanner Posted August 25, 2007 Author Share #30 Posted August 25, 2007 a wife in favour of buying an M8 ???????? Change the R9 camera for the M8 and keep your wife !!!!!!!!!! My wife is very progressive and she loves the M8 after two days of testing in Solms. But I think to buy the M 8 and perhaps also keep the R 9 + DMR + wife of course. But....... on a bike the R 9 and DMR are heavy together. Dear Rob, The 35 and 90 mm I own are from the analog period. The 35 I used as the standard lens. Now I notice that I am using the 24 as standard length. Although I have no expirience with the 75 mm I think it is better suited for portraits on the digital M8. With the 90 mm you can work almost unnoticed, see attached photos Welcome, dear visitor! I have several SD cards from sandisc but i read that these cards are not the best choise with the M 8 What kind of cards do you use ? Thanks, Rob Hi' Rob, I'm currently using SanDisk Extreme III 2GB cards - no problems at all - in fact they're fast and reliable. I'm pleased you've made up your minds to go for the M8. You won't regret it. Consider adding the cheap and tiny Voigtlander 15mm to your lenses collection. It equates to approximately 21mm in 35mm equivalent and is hugely versatile. There are many forum posts on this lens - they're always positive.

So I can keep my SanDisk extreme III cards 2 GB which I use on the DMR and after formatting use again on the M 8. So I will set my R 9 + DMR for sale mid Oktober with my Summilux 35 and 80 mm. and Elmarit 180 mm. 2,8 and Macro 60 mm.+ extender 1:1 and after our removing to our new home I buy the M 8 !! With the 90 mm you can work almost unnoticed, see attached photos Dear Como, beautifull pictures and the M 8 is perhaps even better than the DMR. I am convinced that I am going to sell the DMR with the 19, 35 lux, 80 lux, 180 elmarit and the macro 60 mm. with the R 9 and the R 8 etc. Then I will buy the M 8 with two or three lenses. The tri-elmar 16 mm., 21 and 24 mm. is very nice but it works very slow with the seperate finder. I tried it in Solms and the pictures were great but you have to look to two glasses ( first to see what is in the picture area and second, the focusing). como Posted August 27, 2007 Share #35 Posted August 27, 2007 Dear Rob, I use the CV 15 mm with a 21 mm glass. It is not so bulky as the WATE finder. Because there is not coupling between distance meter and CV 15 you don´t have to use two finders. When you look at another thread "Do I aspect too much of my CV15?" you can see that this is also a disadvantage. The WATE is a beautiful lens. I wish you all succes with your new "retire career" and beautiful pictures. Best Regards, Co Morriën
