Advertisement Posted February 13, 2021 Posted February 13, 2021 Hi SonomaBear, Take a look here L mount AFL button - how do I program it on SL601. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Chuck Albertson Posted February 14, 2021 Share #2 Â Posted February 14, 2021 (edited) You mean the back button? It's intuitive as hell, and is only vaguely hinted at on p. 219 of the manual. First, in Focus Mode on the Camera menu, set it to Manual Focus (hang with me...). Then, in the Setup menu, go to Customize Control, and then to AE-L/AF-L Button. Under MF Mode, set AFs or AFc as desired. That will separate the autofocus function from the shutter release and allow you to use the joystick on the back for autofocus. Mind you, this disables the zoom function on the joystick - you'll need to use the lower left button to zoom in to touch up manual focus.
