wlaidlaw Posted February 10, 2021 Share #1  Posted February 10, 2021 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) I have just acquired one of these STA-1 lens supports for the 100 APO Macro-R, which also fits the 80-200/4 VE-R, in a swap with a forum member. He had bought it S/H from a dealer. Does anyone know if originally, it should have a rubber or hard sponge insert in the recess in the middle of the clamping band, to prevent the clamp from scratching the paintwork/black coating of the lens bodies? Not a huge task to do this if required, will just use a scalpel with new blade and a steel ruler. For self-adhesive neoprene foam I would use something like this: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Adhesive-Back-Plain-Sponge-Rubber-Foam-Neoprene-EPDM-Sheet-1-5-mm-to-25-mm-Thick/223329287209?hash=item33ff767c29:g:jF0AAOSwqnlcDjU4 Wilson PS Just a thought, I wonder if a cut 'O' ring in the narrower grooves on either side of the larger central recess, might be a better idea than foam. I have a large trade box of all different sizes of 'O' rings from tiny up to about 7cm in diameter. W. Edited February 10, 2021 by wlaidlaw

Leicaiste Posted February 12, 2021 Share #2  Posted February 12, 2021 No, there was no insert in the STA1.
