Darren Taylor Posted February 6, 2021 Share #1 Posted February 6, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi I have sold my Q and bought a CL with a Super Vario Elmar T 11-23mm f 3.5 - 4.5 while I really enjoy the flexibility of the zoom I’m missing the speed & size of 28mm f1.7 Summilux on the Q, what prime lens equivalent would you recommend for the CL. I also have to consider the cost of the potential new lens just to gain a few stops especially as iso speeds not being so critical these days. Your thoughts would be appreciated. I use a C Lux that’s stays in my jacket pocket most days as my edc camera. thanks Darren
Advertisement Posted February 6, 2021 Posted February 6, 2021 Hi Darren Taylor, Take a look here Leica Q equivalent lens for CL. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted February 6, 2021 Share #2 Posted February 6, 2021 I don't think that you will find an 18 mm Noctilux. There are very few fast wideangles about, the closest would be the Summilux 21 M, but heavy, bulky and seriously expensive. You have hit on the main disadvantage of a smaller sensor. For your use get the 18/2.8 TL Pancake. A far better lens than Bloggers would have you believe. 3
Le Chef Posted February 6, 2021 Share #3 Posted February 6, 2021 I would look at the Sigma 16mm f1.4 for TL mount as about the closest you will get in an autofocus lens.
Darren Taylor Posted February 6, 2021 Author Share #4 Posted February 6, 2021 Thanks for your advice but unfortunately 18/f2.8 Pancake is a great size but £1000 to gain an extra stop over my Super Vario not sure 🤔 the Sigma looks great but it’s a big lens, just seen an Panasonic Leica DG Summilux 15mm f/1.7 ASPH loads of used ones about small and relatively cheap. Bit of an odd focal length but think I could live with it.

I use it on the GX8 - great combo.

Darren Taylor Posted February 6, 2021 Author Share #12 Posted February 6, 2021 I’m a bit confused now will the Panasonic Leica DG Summilux 15mmf/1.7 ASPH fit my CL. I know the Sigma will and it’s readily available in the Uk.

No, this is a lens with Micro Four Thirds lens mount. It does not cover the larger APS-C format. Edited February 6, 2021 by Guest

tommonego@gmail.com Posted February 8, 2021 Share #16 Posted February 8, 2021 You can try one of the 21mm Voigtlanders there is a 21mm f1.8 Ultron, and a 21mm f1.4 Nokton, both have good reviews. I went with the 23 Summicron, my only AF lens and is 2 1/2 stops faster than the 11-23 at 23mm. I know it gives you 35mm and the Q(2) is 28mm, the problem is that getting a fast lens at the focal length you want with the coverage you need makes for big lenses. I looked at the Voigtlander 21mm and decided the 23 was lighter and a Leica lens. There is also an 18mm Zeiss but it is rare and f4.

No problem, just get an M adapter. The Leica is the best, but they are available for $20 and up.
Porchpockler Posted February 8, 2021 Share #19 Posted February 8, 2021 Just FYI, the Sigma 16mm f.14 is an amazing lens that hits well above it's price point! Highly highly recommended.
