ktmrider2 Posted February 4, 2021 Share #1 Posted February 4, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) Have seen several threads asking about the differences between 50's or recommendations for a purchase of which non Leica lens. Since my favorite focal length is 35 (on even days), I thought I would ask about the Zeiss 35f1.4 which is a killer lens but large vs the 35f1.2 Nokton Ver3 which is Voigtlander's newest 35. I presently own the 35f1.2 Version I and the 35f2.8 C Biogon which may be my favorite lens, especially for travel. In 50's, I own the screw mount Summicron Version 1, Summicron Version 5, and the 50f1.2 Nokton so I am somewhat familiar the latest lens body Voightlander is using. Am not really looking to purchase any more 35's or 50's but thought I would start a thread similar to others I have seen on non Leitz 50's.
Advertisement Posted February 4, 2021 Posted February 4, 2021 Hi ktmrider2, Take a look here 35f1.4 Zeiss or 35f1.2 Nokton?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
colonel Posted February 4, 2021 Share #2 Posted February 4, 2021 I believe the Zeiss 35mm f1.4 is still the best/sharpest 35mm M mount available I haven't seen a direct comparison, but the Voigtlander, although super sharp, is not as sharp or flat field at 1.4 as the Zeiss Probably not much to choose between them at f8, but if you want architecture perfection with alot of light, then the Zeiss is the way to go. If you are more taking people and like less good corners at light apertures and a more ethereal look, the voigtlander
Narsuitus Posted February 4, 2021 Share #3 Posted February 4, 2021 (edited) I have never had the pleasure to use the 35mm f/1.2 Nokton. However, it would have to walk on water and be waterproof for me to select it as a replacement for my 35mm f/1.4 Zeiss Distagon. Welcome, dear visitor! astrostl Posted February 6, 2021 Share #4 Posted February 6, 2021 I own both. ZM if you prioritize optical excellence and don't mind the added size/weight/cost, VM if you prioritize all-around value and utility.
Keith (M) Posted February 6, 2021 Share #5 Posted February 6, 2021 (edited) Late last year I added a VM 35mm f1.2 III to a long-owned ZM Biogon f2. Seriously considering selling the ZM. Lots of examples of the Nokton in this album on Flickr. Welcome, dear visitor!
