If you're shooting in manual mode, any change to the exposure you make (i.e. stopping the lens down and using a relatively slowish shutter speed) shows up in real time. Selecting PAS and not including M ensures that manual mode is the only mode in which you do not get a real-time exposure preview.

rollsman4 Posted January 21, 2021 Author Share #5  Posted January 21, 2021 Does it matter if the lens is set on A for the f stops?  I can take it off A and manually move the F stops on the lens and not in the camera

Anakronox Posted January 22, 2021 Share #7  Posted January 22, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) Are you using a fully manual R, M, or other adapted lens?  Because the EVF then will only show you what little light is entering the lens’ iris.  If you are using a native SL lens, then those only stop down the aperture when taking a shot, like most modern autofocus lenses.  We need more information.
