scott kirkpatrick Posted December 30, 2020 Share #1 Posted December 30, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) With the recent attention to the SL2-S's impressive high ISO performance I couldn't resist seeing how my M10-R compares if I have to shoot at ISOs of 12500, 25000 or even 50,000. I process things in Capture One, and up to now using their DNG neutral profile has always worked OK for me. But not for the M10-R at high ISO. Substituting the ":M10 generic" profile doesn't help. The colors are desaturated and shift into the green. When I process the same files in ACR, the colors are OK, and the thumbnail files that COne shows are also OK. I hope now that there seems to be some communication between Leica and COne, this will get fixed with a ProProfile and a generic profile for the M10-R in release 21 (next version will be 14.2). I couldn't find promises of a profile on the COne forums. Has anyone heard from them?
Advertisement Posted December 30, 2020 Posted December 30, 2020 Hi scott kirkpatrick, Take a look here M10-R and Capture One at high ISO.. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Hanno Posted December 30, 2020 Share #2 Posted December 30, 2020 I had a similar issue and found in Capture One forums that the issue apparently lies with C1’s noise reduction algorithm not being updated for the new M10R sensor. Decreasing the colour in Noise Reduction to 15-20 did the trick for me. I hope it helps.
scott kirkpatrick Posted December 30, 2020 Author Share #3 Posted December 30, 2020 (edited) it works for me, too. I took it down to 10 for all the strange pictures. Edited December 30, 2020 by scott kirkpatrick
Hanno Posted December 30, 2020 Share #4 Posted December 30, 2020 The amount of colour decrease required might be related to the ISO value. I had to go down to 20 on 1,600 ISO. Perhaps you needed 10 as your ISO value was much higher. Anyway, as long as it works . Anyone interested in Capture One for their M10-R should definitely log a request for a native DNG profile on the Capture One request forum if not done so already! scott kirkpatrick Posted December 30, 2020 Author Share #5 Posted December 30, 2020 (edited) I was doing all ISOs over 12500, and trying to match warm colors to a shot at ISO 640. With individual color I would tune to taste. Capture One takes profiling pretty seriously and would probably buiild a much more extensive table of high ISO adjustments than just retuning a single noise correction. I hope we see something in 14.02 for the M10-R. And this alerts me to the amount of noise correction that is baked in Maybe more than I want, and certainly more than I was expecting. tobey bilek Posted January 5, 2021 Share #6 Posted January 5, 2021 C1 has a lot of built in “corrections.” as default. Find where it takes the open image and changes it to neutral and it does not “jack up” all the colors and contrast. You will need to make everything yourself. I made a whole process to do it easily and in the order I prefer. Update came and wiped it all out. It will take a lot to get me to install 2021 edition. Going back to CS6 and NX D for Nikon images.
