Loose focusing ring Summicron DR

I have a loose focusing ring on a recently acquired DR. I would like to hear any opinion, such as:

- is this a common issue for the Summicron DR?

- how bad it could become in time? E.g. focus shift

I have used (still use) some Summicron DR, I've never seen with loose focussing ring.

One of the best made lens, as robust as a lens can be.

Sometimes the ring can become a bit hard to turn but never loose.

Yours may need to be sent back or to be repaired.

 

edit:

maybe the lens optical part is unscrewed ?

if it is unscrewed, just grab the front and rear parts then turn/unturn, you can see if there is something wrong inside the focus mechanism.

As you have just bought the lens, I would get the vendor to have it serviced. Loose focusing can lead to mis-focused shots.
