My wife wanted a picture of her tree and I looked through the viewfinder and saw the weird obstruction. It is not on the rear lcd nor in the images. I hate to have to send my camera in again - this would be the third time. Welcome, dear visitor! It is about 25% opacity so I can still see through it. It appears to be the bristles from the brush-style seals used to catch dust I have seen on other cameras.
