I realize that this is not the best choice for close up photography, but I thought I would give it a try.  Unfortunately, I have not been able to attach the Elpro, even with the supplied 46 to 52 ring adapter.  It will not screw into the front of the lens.  I know that it is supposed to fit, so what am I missing?  Is there a screw-in ring on the front of the lens that can be removed?  If so, I cannot find it.

Edit:  I just realized that the filter size of the lens is 49mm, not 46mm.  I thought that the adapter would fit, but I was wrong.  I will call my dealer to sort things out.

Edit 2:  Hidden deep in the packaging, I found a 49 to 52mm adapter.  Problem solved.

BTW, I am not usually this clueless.  It's just that kind of day. 🙃

The cluelessness could be age related. I followed along very well with your journey of discovery. I can relate. Glad you figured it it. I got a good laugh from it. Close to home. 😁😁

Now that my mind has cleared, I would welcome suggestions for a small (table top) tripod to use with this setup.

The problem on a small table top tripod is that camera and elpro is heavy and tippy.
After several tests i settled with the GorillaPod Rig because the long legs keep the camera from falling forward and
the two additional light arms can hold a small light panel to illuminate the scenery.

If you dont like GorillaPods then look for a Tripod with long legs to avoid that the camera tip over

Chris

PS: And you need a tripod who is low and the legs can be bent 90° so that the tripod is flat on the surface and less high possible,
if it's too high then you will take pix from too above and in a bad angle.
I started to use a normal tripod on the floor as this gives me the possibility to have the lens on the same level as the scenery
