You can tell how good a lens by how it resolves inner tonal detail in those low contrast areas. Sometimes in color the saturation masks that out The 35mm summarit does well on those areas imho. Interesting! I did not find anything to be missing on digital. But every darkroom print was missing something to make it pop out. After very first printing from Summarit 35 it was even more obvious. I had 25 and now 21 CS and they aren’t that bad.

Twasi Posted December 18, 2020 Share #24  Posted December 18, 2020 I have the Nikkor 28mm F3.5 in LTM and the sharpness and contrast are really astonishing at times. I have seen some impossibly good rendering with that lens.  Totally the equal of the Summaron.  Don't fall into the trap of paying too little and getting a copy in poor condition.  If you like tiny lenes that fit in your shirt pocket, also look for the Schneider Xenogon F2.5 35mm lens. Also quite tiny and shockingly good. The old spherical double-gauss designs work really great up to F3.5 to F2.8. I have some 80 lenses for the Leica M and those are two of my favorites. With them, you can carry a full suite of focal lengths in your pocket, without a camera bag.
