pyroMax Posted November 21, 2020 Share #1 Posted November 21, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm not sure if this behavior is a bug, or if it's specific to the Q2 Monochrom, as this is my first Leica camera: All touchscreen functions remain active while using the EVF. I'm unfortunately a left-eye shooter, so my nose is often pressed against the LCD, which triggers the focus field resize mode (touch and hold gesture). I tried turning off touch AF, and it didn't help. I also tried setting the display to EVF only and EVF extended, and that didn't help either. I finally tried resetting the camera to factory defaults, and the behavior persisted. I checked the other touch gestures, like swiping to switch between photo and video modes or playback mode, and they're all active while looking through the EVF. It's a tiny annoyance in an otherwise very enjoyable camera. I would greatly appreciate it if one of you would kindly check your Q2 Monochrom for this odd behavior. Please note that the camera has to be set to field focus or face detect mode for the touch and hold touch gesture to become available. Did I mention that I absolutely love this camera? pyroMax Posted November 21, 2020 Author Share #3 Posted November 21, 2020 Thank you, @jaapv, that's a brilliant fix and definitely less costly than the plastic surgery I was considering.

Joystick still works ofcourse, in evf or lcd mode Edited November 25, 2020 by nwphil
pyroMax Posted November 25, 2020 Author Share #6 Posted November 25, 2020 Thanks, @nwphil, I already tried that, as I explained in my original post. It only disables the touch to focus or move focus point behavior, but none of the other touch gestures. Leica support have confirmed that this is a bug they're aware of in both Q2 and Q2 Monochrom, and that they're going to address it in future firmware versions. I'm not holding my breath. I have found that switching to single-point focus, as opposed field or face detect focus, will disable the touch-and-hold gesture, so at least the camera is usable now.

There are few settings that sort of overlap each other a bit, and yet, in far apart menus - Not as bad as Sony or even Olympus UI by far. Got to appreciate the simplicity of the M system and having dumas lcd (M240)
pyroMax Posted April 29, 2021 Author Share #8 Posted April 29, 2021 I ended up reporting the issue to Leica USA back in early December, and they escalated the report to Leica AG, who contacted me to get some more information. I was pleasantly surprised today, when I installed firmware 1.1, and the issue was resolved. My nose no longer triggers Quick AF Setting mode! Even better, they added a menu setting under the Focusing menu, Touch AF in EVF, to allow camera users to restore the firmware 1.0 behavior if they prefer it. This is by far the best level of support I have received from any camera company. Leica, you rock!
