Ah sorry, I just saw that I wrote my comment in german. 🙈 It means: I'll test it within the next days.

I just made about three pictures today, so I can't really say much about it. But I'll keep you updated.

I can't comment if the Techart or the Megadap is better, sorry.

I am interested in this. Are you pleased with it?

I see there is also another autofocus adapter from Megadap. I am trying to decide which one to choose.

https://nikonrumors.com/2020/11/11/the-first-review-of-the-megadap-mtz11-autofocus-adapter-for-leica-m-lenses-to-nikon-z-cameras.aspx/

There are “problems” with megadap where..

1) using a “large lens” example Noc 50mm 0.95 the lens barrel will hit/blocked by the adapter when trying to focus

2) using a lens with a focus tab example 50mm lux asph, if the focus tab is not positioned either at min or infinity, the tab will hit the adapter when trying to focus

Source: there are a few videos on YouTube and few other threads on other forums that have discussed this.

Not a major issue but it is “limiting” the scope of what you can/can’t do. I am waiting for a comparison between the two adapters.

when you do testing, can you please use extreme condition (low light, backlit, etc..) and lens wide open (lease DOF) like f/1.4.  If you have a fast telephoto lens is even better.

Thanks for that. I imagine those problems would be common to both adapters. But, as you say, a comparison between the two would be very helpful.

I have the techart pro for the Sony, I don’t have those issues. But there is a design flaw where after prolong use/heavy lenses .. “wobble” may occur  ...

but yes... keen for the comparison video to be published!

Hi @DirkR440

that’s a 100mm lens, you might need to “assist it”... change the focus closer to where you are trying to focus (not infinity) as the focal length is greater than 50mm.

Refer to either your manual or this video at 2:20 it talks about this

note: this is for the Sony camera however the theory is the same.

Also note: you are putting a fairly heavy load on the adaptor the lens (760g) + R adapter (328g). The max rated load of the adapter is ~700g (this is for the Sony adaptor, not sure of the exact number for Nikon)

the biggest issue that I'm currently have with the adapter is: My 8 month old daughter somehow don't like the sound that is makes. :D  She immediately starts crying when she hear that buzzing. So that stops me from taking more pictures at the moment. :D

The nice thing is, that the extension of the adapter can be used in conjunction with the close focus of the lens, so we can get closer than the lens' minimal focussing distance.

There is a limit with lenses requiring a longer movement, so for instance an old Nikkor 105 (mounted through a Nikkor F -> Leica M adapter) would require the adapter to move out more for close focussing, than it actually can. Manual help with focussing works, of course.

Generally the adapter is relatively slow, but works well. I would not drive lenses exceeding maybe 400g. The servo does not sound too happy with heavy lifting.
