Gers Posted November 5, 2020 Share #1 Posted November 5, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) I am having trouble getting the firmware 3 onto my card. I have downloaded it; it is on my computer but when I try to put it on the card I geta message asking me to put a disk in. I have tried 3 different card readers and nothing changes. Yes I have checked that the card is not write protected and formatted it in the camera. I got my settings onto it so there is nothing wrong with the card. I consider myself to be reasonably computer savvy so do't know what is happening. Any ideas? Can you help please.

pop Posted November 5, 2020 Share #4 Posted November 5, 2020 Can you put other files on the card, such as .jpg or .txt ? How are you trying to move the file to the card?
Gers Posted November 5, 2020 Author Share #5 Posted November 5, 2020 Yes I have put my profiles onto the card. I have tried dragging & dropping & 'send to' but nothing works. I had this problem when installing previous firmware update but eventually one of the readers worked
pop Posted November 5, 2020 Share #6 Posted November 5, 2020 Sorry, I should have asked whether you have written other files to the card under Windows. Anyway, if you open the card with the Explorer, can you see your profiles and any directories? Can you create new directories using the Explorer? pop Posted November 5, 2020 Share #10 Posted November 5, 2020 There you are. Windows can not "see" the card or the card reader. I would suggest restarting the computer. When the problem persists and the card is otherwise empty, you might want to try and format the card with Windows (using one of the FAT or DOS formats). Using another card reader might help. I am not all that familiar with Windows 7, but it's an elderly OS. How large is the card you are trying to use, and does it make a difference if you use a much smaller card? jaapv Posted November 5, 2020 Share #12 Posted November 5, 2020 Windows7 is no longer supported - I would try another computer, and format the card in SD-formatter first.
bjamisonf Posted November 6, 2020 Share #13 Posted November 6, 2020 It happened to me as well but that was when I was trying to move the firmware update to the DCIM folder. When I moved it to the lower level base folder, it worked with no issue.

LexS Posted November 6, 2020 Share #17 Posted November 6, 2020 (edited) I propose following: put the card in your camera, format the card in your camera; connect the card to the computer, put the firmware from the computer onto the card (direct, not in a folder); disconnect the card from the computer, put it in the camera, run the update from the card. AFAIK it has nothing to do with what OS is on the computer. AFAIK the firmware is now level 3.1 for Q1 and 3 forQ2. Procedure always the same. ianforber Posted November 6, 2020 Share #19 Posted November 6, 2020 Do you have a friend who could download it onto a card for you and then post it to you (or if your lockdown rules allow, just hand it over direct)?
