hirohhhh Posted October 31, 2020 Share #1 Â Posted October 31, 2020 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) I understand this lens does not have OIS? How does it affect your photography? Do you miss it, especially for video? Other than that, Summicron 35mm seems like a perfect lens to me, but I have 3Â other SL lenses with OIS, and I'm not sure if I'll miss it if I buy Summicron. The only two native SL lenses with OIS that I’m aware of are the 24-90 and 90-280. Panasonic does have some L mount lenses with OIS.  Of course the SL2 adds IBIS.  Jeff
hirohhhh Posted October 31, 2020 Author Share #3  Posted October 31, 2020 Oh, I though 50mm Summilux also has it. Ok, then I already have one without  No biggie.

Joakim Posted October 31, 2020 Share #5 Â Posted October 31, 2020 I believe it is not very common that prime lenses under 100mm and certainly not 50mm and wider has image stabilisation built in. It's mostly found in longer prime lenses and zoom lenses.

Jeff S Posted October 31, 2020 Share #7  Posted October 31, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) Small angles of view, and narrow depth of field, require a steady hand and quickly reveal focus errors; hence OIS.  It’s why the SL 16-35 doesn’t have or need OIS, unlike the longer two zooms, particularly with the SL2’s built in stabilization. hirohhhh Posted October 31, 2020 Author Share #8 Â Posted October 31, 2020 I just purchased SL 35 Summicron, but it's quite loud when focusing. I have 24-90, 90-280, and 50 Summilux, and they are all very silent. This is the first time I hear such an annoying noise. No matter if AFc or AFs, or pre-focus is turned off and on, the noise is still too loud. It just appears more or less frequent, depending of the settings.
