boojum Posted October 31, 2020 Share #1 Posted October 31, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) I was cautioned today that using Live View could introduce dust to the sensor because the sensor was help open as long as Live View was selected. Has anyone had this experience?
Advertisement Posted October 31, 2020 Posted October 31, 2020 Hi boojum, Take a look here Live View Dust. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
tom.w.bn Posted October 31, 2020 Share #2 Posted October 31, 2020 My exerience is that the sensor gathers more dust compared to the shooting option without liveview. But even without LV you have to clean the sensor from time to time. It's not dust vs. no dust. It's more dust vs. less dust. Just clean the sensor more often. I wet clean the sensor regularly. Spent 10 days in the mountains, it was dry and dusty. Cleaned the sensor before (didn't even check if it's really necessary) and shot everything wide with LV. At day 7 I begin to see some dust spots in the images and on day 10 it's clearly noticeable so I have more work to remove the dust from the images. Next time I'll take the cleaning tools with me and add a sensor cleaning in between.
