logan2z Posted October 27, 2020 Share #1 Posted October 27, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) I was talking to a local Leica dealer recently and I said that I wished Leica would offer a black paint M-A (I have a black chrome M-A but would love a black paint version). He pointed me to the following page on the Leica USA web site and said that he believe's it's possible to send in a black chrome camera and have Leica convert it to black paint: https://us.leica-camera.com/Photography/Leica-M/M-System-Service/Redesign This page does seem to imply that might be possible, but I can't say I've ever heard anyone mention this before. I searched this forum and didn't find any mention of it either. Is it actually possible to do this? If so, I find this a bit surprising given that Leica has discontinued it's a la carte program. I emailed the Leica USA repair dept and they said they will convert a black chrome camera to black paint. I'm shocked. In terms of cost, the camera most be sent to Germany for evaluation before an estimate is provided. Has anyone here done this conversion?
