BillM6816 Posted October 18, 2020 Share #1 Posted October 18, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) I just purchased a pre-owned Q2 and tried to register it on the Leica.com website. However, the serial number is already shown as being registered in their system (presumably from the previous owner). Any idea how I can register the camera? I bought it from Adorama so no way of knowing the name of the previous owner, although not sure that would do me any good anyhow.
Advertisement Posted October 18, 2020 Posted October 18, 2020 Hi BillM6816, Take a look here Registration/serial number. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Tom Johnston Posted October 18, 2020 Share #2 Posted October 18, 2020 I have written to support with this same issue in the past. As I recall they'll want a copy of your receipt so they can update the ownership and remove the previous owner. It took me a couple tries recently, and they suggested resetting my password, which had something to do with a change in my email account. If that isn't the simple fix then I'd just write them, explaining the situation and provide sales info.

My limited understanding the registration is solely for the sake of warranty. Since in this case the warranty is non-transferable, there is no point to register. If your purpose is to have a record somewhere for, like my previous situation, as a proof of ownership, that helped me when my gears are gone with the door breaker, you can just write a note of your serial number and any gear infos somewhere as part of any registered item. I did it even with my LR authorization numbers.
BillM6816 Posted October 19, 2020 Author Share #4 Posted October 19, 2020 I've had pretty good experiences with the Adorama used equipment team so I put them on the case--will see what they are able to turn up.
