You move the same file with Windows onto the SD card, though, and no problem, the Lumix S cameras recognize the FW update. Advertisement Posted October 17, 2020 Posted October 17, 2020 Hi Chaemono, Take a look here FW files for Lumix S cameras downloaded (.zip) and extracted (.bin) with Mac not recongized by cameras. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Boojay Posted October 17, 2020 Share #2 Posted October 17, 2020 Our son did his on Mac, no issues apparently, just downloaded file, dragged from desktop onto formatted card and camera updated with no issue.

You've probably already checked this out, but I've had this happen to me before when I've mistakenly downloaded the Windoze version instead of the Mac version. Yes, I'm pretty sure. This is how the download page looks and it downloads the .zip file. Welcome, dear visitor! This .bin file dragged and dropped onto the SD card is not recognized by the camera, however. Boojay Posted October 17, 2020 Share #5 Posted October 17, 2020 (edited) From exactly the same download page you show above - file dragged from download folder onto desktop then into formatted sd card - no extraction! Worked fine on MacBook Air. Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! Firmware update on camera procedure as normal and camera now shows updated firmware. Another thing to check, did you drag it only once onto the SD card? In other words make sure there's only one .bin file on the SD card, not multiple versions.

The extracted file is fine, just drag the .bin file to a freshly formatted SD card in Finder, and it will update without problem.
