Does anyone else have a leicavit M who can chime in? I just bought it, and it does fit on my mp, but it is uncomfortably tight to screw in compared to the base plate. I'm afraid I'm going to damage the camera with it. Does anyone else own one who can confirm that it fits tighter than the base plate?

Down to one now, but both I had fitted and closed with the same feel as the standard base plate on the M6 and M-A.

There was no need to align anything; the tooth springs into alignment the drive slot on the first wind.

I fixed it! I unscrewed the latch, and found three washers on top: a plastic/flimsy one, a warped metal one, and a zinc or brass one.

The bottom had two washers. A large and small one.

What I did was take the large washer off the bottom, and put it on the top, just above the metal warped one and below the zinc/brass one. Now it fits exactly like the baseplate and works great. I don't know if the previous owner got them wrong or something, but it feels perfect now, and operates without any kinks.

It that was stupid let me know, but otherwise if anyone has this problem in the future, it really feels perfect now.

Also I should mention that I took it to a Leica store and he said it felt wrong, said that it's not uncommon. He said you could fix it by prying the latch up with a screwdriver.

I called DAG in Oregon and he recommended the same thing.

I didn't like the idea, and the washer swap feels like a better solution.
