No explanation in the handbook on how this works. Do you think it will crop the image with a reduction in file size like the Q2. If that’s the case I will just crop in Lightroom as I do on my Q2.

I’m interested in extending the range of my TL 55-135 lens with this feature if their won’t be a reduction in I.Q.

Have you tried the feature? I haven't, but with the Q it allows framing as if cropped, but in Lightroom you will also see the whole frame as well as the chosen crop, when capturing in Raw format. If needed, you can then adjust your cropping frames to give your desired effect.

Works exactly as Q crop mode. It is great. 
DNG is untouched. It just add instructions for Lightroom to crop automatically. 
It is very handy. Your final image will have less MP. But in DNG you can revert back to original 28mm size 

Crop mode will also be taken into account to limit AF, WB and exposure within the cropped limit.
