USB-C charging and triggering will only work if Zeiss implemented it. I would assume it supports charging. At what speed is always a question since in-camera charging tends to be slow. I wanted the Q2 to have in-camera charging since, for vacations, I find it useful to charge one battery in the camera and one battery on the charger.

The ability to backup to cloud (Dropbox included) or NAS will depend on how open they have left the OS. You can probably do all sorts of things if it is a stock Android OS install - and this would certainly be one of the strengths of the camera. However, you will be limited to WiFi since this has no cellular connection. You can probably use your phone's hotspot but that means you are draining two batteries.

Same goes for LR. I'm sure you can use a photo editor of your choice as long as Zeiss hasn't neutered the OS. The other editors won't have the special interface that it seems like the version of LR does (i.e. the touch bar controls on the bent part of the screen).

In my experience, the AF performance really comes down to the firmware implementation. The Q/Q2 contrast detect AF outperforms many phase-detect AFs that I have tried. I've missed very few shots due to the AF. I do tend to use a single focus point (generally am an old-school center-point focus and recompose type) so maybe this improves my experience since the camera doesn't have to evaluate the whole scene to focus.

I was very much interested in this camera back when it was announced since it was a question of the Zeiss or the yet unannounced Q2. I was also still an avid LR user back then. Zeiss ended up dragging their feet while time and technology marched on and my workflow moved away from LR. This ultimately put them out of consideration for me. Something that would concern me if I was still interested in this camera is that I suspect it is essentially still the same camera it was when it was first conceived (before it was first announced) which would mean that the tech is already somewhat outdated. The mobile OSes demand faster and faster processes which means that this camera will eventually lose it's ability to upgrade the OS - assuming that is a possibility in the first place. If it is a customized version of Android, which I'm sure it is, then there is also the question of how long Zeiss remains interested in maintaining it.

Not sure you can compare 35mm fixed lens vs 28mm fixed lens .  Different beasts.  For many photographers these cameras do not overlap

In this specific case I think you can.

The Zeiss is a 35mm F2 with 37mp

A Q2 shot in 35mm cropped mode will give you the equivalent FOV of a 35mm F2.1 and 30mp.

It looks like the USB port on the side has no cover or protection of any sort. Very curtious. That would be a real problem for internal dust and sand ingestion.

Really?  You can swim with iPhone of last couple of generations, and I have never seen any cover on the their ports.

Apples and Oranges, my friend. Do you see any other CAMERA with an open port? I like to photograph the dunes in Death Valley. It is very windy at most times. Would you be comfortable using this camera? Yes, someone could just cover the hole with gaffer's tape. But should this be necessary on a 6K camera??

Except that so far both the Q and the Q2 are prone to dust despite not having open ports, plenty of examples on this forum, including my own Q2.

I covered the mic holes with gaffer tape. On a 5K camera.

I would be extremely careful using ANY camera in conditions involving blowing sand. Frankly I’d use my iPhone and not risk my expensive camera. One grit of sand into the lens system could damage it.

I photographed Upper and Lower Antelope Canyon slot canyons in Page, AZ. At times wind can stir up sand. I kept my camera covered in a plastic bag except when actually taking a photo. I did not switch any lenses on my camera that allows that. I did use both my Q and my Canon 5D3. No problems afterwards. Be careful.

I did the same in India during a Holi festival. Wrapped a A7III into a transparent plastic bag, fixed it with plenty of gaffer tape around a UV filter. The only openings were for the viewfinder and to grab it with my hand. Zero damages despite me getting completely covered head to toes in colored powder. :)
