LocalHero1953 Posted October 5, 2020 Share #21 Â Posted October 5, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) From my understanding and recollection only some collapsible lenses risk damage to a digital M, and I think Leica has listed them. You'll have to do some more research to confirm this.
Advertisement Posted October 5, 2020 Posted October 5, 2020 Hi LocalHero1953, Take a look here Collapsable 50 Summicron-Tell Me About It. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
tommonego@gmail.com Posted October 5, 2020 Share #22  Posted October 5, 2020 Using the 50 Collapsible on a CL with the M to L adapter the collapsed lens hardly goes by the back edge of the adapter. It works fine on my M8 also. The lens I was told by Leica not to use on a digital M was the Dual Range Summicron, as there is something having to do with the focus cam. But I have heard of folks using the Dual Range on digital Ms so go figure. I have heard not to collapse the 50 on an M5 or film CL.

That's kinda up to you but, the cost of a suitable LTM-M mount adapter is...what... $20 - $30???  So...Yeah, why not? I have a collapsible 5cm Summicron. I love it!  It is a remarkable optic but given the price difference, I would sure hope there is some fairly significant difference between the results produced by the Collapsible version and the latest version. As somebody else already said, I'd love to see a comparison.  Safe travels!
