Using the 50 Collapsible on a CL with the M to L adapter the collapsed lens hardly goes by the back edge of the adapter. It works fine on my M8 also. The lens I was told by Leica not to use on a digital M was the Dual Range Summicron, as there is something having to do with the focus cam. But I have heard of folks using the Dual Range on digital Ms so go figure. I have heard not to collapse the 50 on an M5 or film CL.

I just purchased a Leica 3F.  It came with a collapsable 50 Summicron which had just been CLA'ed by DAG.  I am using the camera on a trip around the US and will not see the results of my photography for a couple weeks.  I own the latest version of the 50 Summicron (non APO) so what can you tell me about the collapsible?  Is it's rendering different enough from the modern version to justify the purchase of a LTM adapter for use on my digital Leica or M2?

Is it worth it? That's kinda up to you but, the cost of a suitable LTM-M mount adapter is...what...  $20 - $30???   So...Yeah, why not?

I have a collapsible 5cm Summicron. I love it!   It is a remarkable optic but given the price difference, I would sure hope there is some fairly significant difference between the results produced by the Collapsible version and the latest version.

As somebody else already said, I'd love to see a comparison.

Safe travels!
