adamcb Posted September 30, 2020 Share #1 Posted September 30, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) Apologies that this is my first post, but curious if my early M9 (with original sensor) is showing the dreaded corrosion. Or is this something else? I used a sensor swab an ultra-pure water on it but didn't do a thing. For some reason I thought corrosion was only on the periphery of the sensor. Advertisement Posted September 30, 2020 Posted September 30, 2020 Hi adamcb, Take a look here New here, but is this M9 CCD Sensor Corrosion?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted September 30, 2020 Share #2 Posted September 30, 2020 Try a sensor cleaning liquid first. Water won’t do a thing. It might be corrosion but cleaning won’t harm.
Raymondl Posted October 1, 2020 Share #3 Posted October 1, 2020 That’s how my M9 looked.. before it got really bad very quickly.
criolf Posted October 1, 2020 Share #4 Posted October 1, 2020 Corrosion gets everywhere... This is how my M9P's sensor looks. But I shoot f2 and below (until there'll be a confirmed and affordable repair available) where the picture is clean and I'm happy. I love this thing (did I mention that I actually bought it like this?). Welcome, dear visitor! Raymondl Posted October 1, 2020 Share #5 Posted October 1, 2020 (edited) Prior to sending my camera to kolarvision, I was able to shoot F2 quite well in most conditions. However when you are shooting with the sun in front of you (backlit) or any form of direct light.. you will see (corrosion artefacts) even at f/1.4. Definitely depends how you shoot I guess. but thought I should mention that. Edited October 1, 2020 by Raymondl
criolf Posted October 1, 2020 Share #6 Posted October 1, 2020 @Raymondl - please make a post here when you get your camera back. I'm really curious of the results and overall cost. Thank you!
Raymondl Posted October 1, 2020 Share #7 Posted October 1, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) @criolf yup will do. I have been following this forum fairly closely in the background as I am interested to hear how other repairs went. But yes, when I get my camera will be share my thoughts (initial findings). 2
